The official uberVU blog about social media analytics and stuff
Monday, 14 September 2009
Last week we announced the social media graphs and the announcement made quite a buzz. Entering a keyword or an URL and get the number of people participating in conversations across the web, getting the distribution graph or the evolution on every platform is quite a big deal.
But there was a thing you all asked for. What happened when there was a spike on a graph? Today we are introducing “influence markers”, a first step we are taking to answer that question. Now when we find a spike on a graph we will show you what was the story that influenced that spike the most.
Here are some pictures to see how it looks like (taken from a Seedcamp search)

Move your mouse over the little dark blue circles and the title of the most popular story will show up. The story isn’t always placed on top of the spike because there may be other stories/ conversations that contributed to the chatter that day. We decided to remain accurate but if you feel this is not that intuitive leave us a message and we will give it another thought.
We believe in social media. But we also believe in numbers. We will look on interesting case studies, provide you with cool links and shameless self-promotions from time to time.
uberVU can help you with social media analytics about brands, stories or events. Cheers!
