Gathering insightful metrics in the uberVU dashboard is now an easier and more pleasant work: the analytics graphs have been revamped and they look way better than before, both in terms of visual resolution and sharpness of the data.
Displaying volume range for the mentions
First of all, you can immediately grasp the amount of mentions because the vertical axis of the XY graph now shows the total range of values – you won’t be wondering if that huge spike in mentions means you just reached thousands of retweets.
More accurate scaling of the graphs
Another thing we did was rendering a better scaled graph – the baseline of the graph is now represented by the lowest number of mentions registered for a specific period of time. This is highly efficient for FB streams: we’ll start counting from the last known amount of fans you had, so you’ll see the progress you made from last week, not from the beginnings of your Facebook page.
Dynamic display of the metrics
We’re now using a spline visualization instead of the old one. What it basically means is that, instead of connecting the dots between different days with a straight line, we’re using a curve. This is definitely more pleasant to the eyes and it also means that you’ll be able to understand the evolution of your mentions in a more dynamic manner. If you see a sudden drop in the number of mentions, you’ll know if it happened abruptly or if the change was gradual.
For example, this progressive change in the volume of conversations can be quickly checked out by using your mouse to select the corresponding area. This way, you can look at the mentions that caused a rise in the number of social talks.
The data is now much more easy to read, since we’ve powered up not just the Daily Mentions graph, but also the Daily Sentiment Breakdown. The attention for details we’ve put in designing each sentiment graph means that you’ll have an easier time realising how people’s attitudes influenced your social media exposure.
There’s a better view for the overlaying graphs and you can click on points in the graph for any of the 3 sentiment values. For example, for January 13th and you’ll know exactly how many positive, negative or neutral mentions your search got.
The chart from the Stream page also reflects the new changes. We hope you’ll enjoy the increased functionality of the graphs!
